OceanWise Marine Data Management Awareness Course 17 October London

OceanWise, in collaboration with IMarEST, is again hosting a One-Day Marine Data Management Awareness Course on Tuesday 17th October 2017. It will take place at IMarEST offices at 1 Birdcage Walk, London, SW1H 9JJ from 0930-1645.

This event introduces Data and Why It Matters. Subjects covered includes the Data Life-Cycle, Data and Metadata Standards, Co-ordinate Reference Systems, Data Quality and Publishing.

Data is often referred to as the 'new oil'. It is expensive to collect and, as such, is an extremely valuable commodity that enables wealth creation. History shows that a majority of organisations rarely, if ever, manage their data properly! With data volumes growing exponentially each year, managing it effectively now presents a major challenge and the need to consider 'data-centric’ processes and workflows has never been greater.

So if you consider data as an important asset in your organisation, then this course is for you! It will provide a valuable insight on the world of marine data.

"The course provided a good overview of the huge topic of data management with lots of ideas to take back to the workplace and to start to implement". Becky Conway (ABP Southampton)
