Zanzibar 556The Overall Objective (intended long-term impact) of the ZAN-SDI Project (2016-2018) is creation and improved utilisation of geospatial information in spatial planning and management in Zanzibar. The Project Purpose (immediate objective) is improved capacity of the project partners in Zanzibar to collect and manage marine and coastal information and to use National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) effectively in integrated coastal and marine spatial planning.

Namibia: Multi-agency NSDI MOU signed

Namibia MOU signedThe national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI) memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA), Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Ministry of Land Reform (MLR) and Telecom Namibia was officially signed this morning.
The NSDI is aimed at facilitating the capture of spatial data through cooperation between government bodies and other organs of state, while spatial data is effectively promoted and maintained.

South Africa: Committee for Spatial Information prepares for first meeting

In terms of the Spatial Data Infrastructure Act, 2003 section 7, members must be appointed for a period of three years. The term of office will therefore span from 2016 to 2019.
