Planetary SDI enabling exploration and research across the solar system

LPSE conference2017Far out! Session 153 of the 48th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (2017) focuses on Planetary Spatial Data Infrastructure. Planetary SDI is a framework to support spatial-temporal data discovery, access, and utilization throughout the Solar System. It is based on the success of such a concept for terrestrial use that identifies spatial data, spatial data practitioners, and spatial data interoperability as issues of national importance.

New Report Illustrates How EO Supports Sustainable Development

GEO convenes effective partnerships for societal benefit through use of free and open Earth observation (EO) data. The GEO Initiative ‘Earth Observations in Service of the 2030 Agenda’, together with the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) have issued a new report to highlight case studies of how EO responds to sustainable development, whether for health, disaster risk reduction or environmental protection.

Two new EO projects launched from GEO community

In response to the Call for Collaborative Data Innovations launched by the Global Partnership on Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD) and the World Bank last year, 10 projects were funded, two out which are from the GEO community.
